Oil Filter

In the compressor system, the oil itself must be filtered on a regular cycle so as to remove contaminants that may enter the compressor and damage the unit. This is accomplished through the installation of a lube oil filter, either in cartridge, or spin-on form , which then ensures that all of the oil is cleansed as it moves through the filter.

Compressors place special demands on oil filters with regard to materials and design. HARTMANN oil filters exclusively use materials which have been tested for use in compressors.

Clean, Oil free air or gas is a requirement to reduce maintenance and replacement costs. Unfortunately, even atmospheric air contains objectionable contaminants, in both solid and liquid forms, that must be removed prior to the use of compressed gas. Additionally, in many compressor and vacuum packages, oil is a coolant and sealant which must also be taken out prior to air use.

Oil Filter Design

HARTMANN spin-on filters consist of a robust metal housing with integrated filter element. Depending on the application, the spin-on filter can be equipped with different components such as filter medium, by-pass valve, etc., The liquid to be filtered enters the concentrically arranged inlet port on the top, flows through the filter element and in a clean state passes out through the central connection. A seal located in the bottom cover ensures reliable sealing to the outside under all operating conditions.

Flow Resistance

HARTMANN Oil filters have flow resistances of maximum 50kPa, referred to the oil-contamination operating state at nominal volumetric flow and at operating temperature.

Air Filter

AIR/OIL SEPERATOR

HARTMANN Air/Oil Separators contain either two or three layers. The first separation layer is the fine particle layer made of borosilicate glass fibers in defined layer thickness and pore sizes. These almost binder-free microfiber papers ensure resistance to different types of lubricating oil even at relatively high operating temperatures. The second separation layer is made of a polyester fleece. In difficult pre-separation conditions, a third pre-separation layer will protect the other two layers against overloading, thus increasing the service life of the air oil separator. To avoid any kind of electrostatic discharge, the metal parts of HARTMANN Air/Oil Separators have an electricity conductive interconnection to transfer any static charges. Suitably prepared mounting seals produce conductive connections to the compressor housing.

Service Life

Dependent mainly upon the cleanliness of the oil and gas being compressed as well as the initial amount of oil contained in the gas stream. Several thousands of hours of operation are possible in a well functioning compressor system.

HARTMANN Air Oil Separators work accordingly to the principle of coalescence. Micro-glass-fiber layers separate drops of oil from the compressed air and convert them in large drops to the oil circuit of the compressor. The separation process is effective right down to the submicron range. This ensures that oil consumption in the compressors and oil contamination into the compressed air networks are kept to a minimum. Vapor oil particles are not separated. HARTMANN Air/Oil Separators can be used with all types of standard compressor lubricating oils, irrespective of whether they are mineral-based, semi-synthetic or full-synthetic products.
